Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so men persecuted the prophets who were before you.” Persecution persists throughout the world in many forms. ![]() This passage continues in Matthew 5:11-12: “Blessed are you when men revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Christians should hold fast to their beliefs even when they are told to do something that contradicts their beliefs or that they know to be wrong. If a Christian is unfairly treated due to their faith, they will ultimately be blessed in the next life and inherit the kingdom of heaven. "Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."Ĭhristians are all called to hold strong in their beliefs, even though they may be persecuted or their opinions will not be popular. Jesus concludes with a bold declaration in Matthew 5:10. ![]()
